This isn't your standard Big Bass slot. Pragmatic Play added a respin mechanic that changes how you approach each base game spin. Instead of only chasing scatters, you're also watching for money symbols — those bronze coins and small green fish that carry cash values.
The Hold & Spinner Respin Mechanic
When 3 or more money symbols land anywhere on the 5x3 grid, the Hold & Spinner bonus locks them in place. You start with 4 respins. Every time a new money symbol lands, it sticks and resets your spins back to 4. The round continues until you either fill all 15 positions or your respins run out.
Each money symbol shows a multiplier value — anywhere from 1x to 2,000x for coins, or 2x to 10,000x for fish money symbols. All values are added together and paid out when the round ends. This mechanic works independently from free spins, so you've got two separate ways to build big wins.
Free Spins with Wild Collection
Land 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols (the bass fish with "SCATTER" written on it) to trigger 10, 15, or 20 free spins. During this round, wild fisherman symbols appear on all reels and they do something crucial: they collect the values from every fish money symbol visible on screen.
The wilds don't disappear. They're collected and held until the free spins round finishes. Every 4th wild you collect triggers a retrigger — you get 10 additional free spins and a multiplier boost for fish money collection:
- 1st retrigger: 2x multiplier on collected fish values
- 2nd retrigger: 3x multiplier
- 3rd retrigger: 10x multiplier (this is where wins can explode)
After the third retrigger, you can't trigger more free spins, but you can keep collecting wilds and fish money until your spins run out or you hit the 6,666x win cap.
Ante Bet and Buy Features
The Ante Bet option increases your bet by 50% (from 10x to 15x base) but loads the reels with more scatter symbols. Your chance to naturally trigger free spins goes up significantly. When Ante Bet is active, the Buy Free Spins option is disabled — you can only buy Hold & Spinner.
Both buy features cost 100x your current total bet. When you buy Free Spins, the triggering spin lands 3, 4, or 5 scatters randomly. When you buy Hold & Spinner, you get 3, 4, or 5 money symbols with random values to start the respin round.
Symbol Payouts and Grid Structure
The 5-reel, 3-row grid uses 10 fixed paylines. Wins pay left to right on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost position. The fishing bobber is the top symbol at 200x for five-of-a-kind. The fishing reel pays 100x, followed by the dragonfly and tackle box at 50x each.
Card symbols (A, K, Q, J, 10) are the low-value symbols, paying between 5x and 10x for five on a line. The wild fisherman only appears during free spins and substitutes for everything except scatters and money symbols.
